The Prom Party Is Going On!

Can you believe it’s already time to pick out your prom dress?! Now, you have the chance to find the prom dress of your dreams. All you have to do is figure out where the party’s at!

Virtual prom is headed offline and IRL, but that doesn’t mean your in-person prom has to be predictable. Many planning committees are opting for cool prom venues in unexpected locales. Because even when you don’t have to be outside, sometimes it’s still nice to be!

Peep this list of unique prom locations to start getting creative. Plus, some curated prom dresses to help you look the part.

What To Look For In A Venue

Deciding where to have prom is an important decision. It isn’t just the scene of your next IG story, it’s where you’ll pass an important milestone.

When weighing different types of prom venues, keep in mind the travel time. You’ll want to pick something relatively close to your school that’s no more than about 30 minutes away. This will help everyone save on transportation costs and limos, which often charge by the mile, and put more funds towards their prom looks and dresses. (Don’t forget about the accessories, too!)

Make sure the venue is teen-friendly and not hosting any other adult-only events on the same night. The venue should also have ample space to dance and bathroom facilities that can accommodate your entire class. If you’re not sure how many will attend, see if you can track down ticket sales from the last few years to get an idea.

It’s also a good idea to check and see if the venue has any noise ordinances that might cut your prom night short. While you’re asking questions, see if the venue allows outside food and drinks or if you have to use their caterers. Their answer will help you decide whether you need to rent your own tables, chairs, and place settings or if you can use theirs.

Bonus points if the venue comes with an event planner who can take over decor, food, and other arrangements! (Note: many hotels and wedding venues offer this as part of the rental package.)

Prom in the Garden

Botanical gardens are beautiful all year round, but often reach their peak around prom season, making them one of the most scenic places to have prom. You hardly even have to think about decorations when you’re surrounded by blooming flowers!

We’d suggest wearing something colorful and flowy like this hot pink strappy v-neck prom dress. We can’t stop staring at the fitted bust, lace up back and slight train!

Prom on the Field

Sports are a huge part of the highschool experience. Naturally, the football field makes for one of the best prom venues. The open air, familiar locale, and unique setting make for an unforgettable experience!

May we suggest going high fashion for this one? Sherri Hill makes jaw dropping a one shoulder sequin prom dress for just such an occasion.

Prom in an Aquarium

Aquariums are almost otherworldly and have practically no contest in terms of unexpected prom venue ideas. Just think of the snap chats you can create! Check with your local venue to see if they can open up the snack bar for the night. That should help you save on bringing in outside food and drink.

We just know this reflective, silver rhinestone Sherri Hill dress will pick up all the color and ambiance of your aquarium space. And just wait until you see it from the back!

Prom at the Library

Ok, hear us out. The library may not sound like one of the most exciting places for prom, but it can actually be a really romantic, modern scene. Public libraries are often a budget-friendly prom locale that touts contemporary architecture and plenty of space to show off your look.

Speaking of looks, this fitted blue lace prom dress and classy off the shoulder prom gown are cute and sophisticated enough to wow your date and help you reach peak confidence!

Prom on a Boat

Water also makes for a good prom venue. And yes, lakes and rivers totally count, too! It’s one of the few places for prom that requires the least amount of work; however, it’s not always the most cost-effective.

For that, we can’t resist this beaded, sexy sweetheart neckline gown from Sherri Hill. Check out that thigh high slit!

Which prom location ideas is your planning crew toying with? We’d love to know where you’re planning to pop off for prom 2021!
